A Christmas Poem in Memory of Kit

It’s been two weeks now, though it feels just a breath, since our dear Kit journeyed beyond life & death. A precious soul, in our hearts she stays, now with Jesus, in His arms arrayed.
Each Sunday, I send a church link to share, to family & friends, a circle of care. Yet twice now, my routine breaks in pain, for Kit’s name won’t join that list again.
Will it get better? My heart softly cries, yet I know she sings in celestial skies! The grandest of services, her soul now attends, where worship & glory never end!
The promise of healing lifts me each day, for God binds wounds in His gentle way. As the psalmist wrote, so true, so deep: “He heals the brokenhearted” & gives them peace.
And more than healing, a joy profound! One day with Kit, we’ll all be bound. As the Word assures in Thessalonians' verse, in the clouds, we’ll rise, no longer dispersed!
This loss struck sharp, a pain so near, a reminder of time’s fleeting veneer. Yet eternity beckons, its truth so grand, a sermon itself: the choicest of “land.”
But this moment of grief, it turned me inside, am I using my gifts to bless & to guide? For Kit, she lived with a prayerful art, a warrior of faith with a generous heart.
She asked me once to make her some bands, bracelets for prayers, each one I made by hand. With every bead, her love shone through, her prayers for us, so faithful & true.
A warrior she was, in heaven’s fight, her life now stays, a memory bright. A symbol of battles she waged on her knees, for friends, for family, her petitions never ceased.
This season of giving, may we pause & reflect, not on treasures to buy, but gifts to perfect. What talents has God placed in your hands, to serve, to uplift, to meet His plans?
Perhaps you pray like Kit once did, or bake, or build, or heal wounds hid. Perhaps you listen, with patience vast, or see the details others walk past. Whatever your gift, be it humble or grand, use it to love, as God commands.
For Christmas is more than what we receive, it’s the ultimate Gift, in Whom we believe. I dedicate this season, with heart so true, to our Lord & Savior Jesus, & Kit too. Her life was a gift, her prayers a shield, a legacy of love, forever sealed. -Paul Riley
To Kit, until we meet again. We miss & love you!
Merry Christmas to all!
