Beware of the Enticers!

“but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”

‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

According to the Scripture, after desire has conceived, meaning we give in to our own evil desire, is what causes us to sin. Now there are many tempters & enticers & that’s what we're going to look at today, things that tempt us or entice us to sin.

Now I know all of you probably know these, but this is a "buddy check" to make sure we have our armor on tight & that we're maintaining our armor through prayer, reading the Word, obedience to the Lord, going to church & continuing to serve.

1. The Devil

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

2. Other People

“Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.””

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭33‬ ‭NIV‬‬

3. Money

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”

‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

4. Idolizing Things

“So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Let's intentionally check ourselves often to make sure that nothing is trying to "seep" into any unrepaired holes we might have in our armor. Also, let's commit to continually pray, read the Word, be obedient to the Lord, go to church, & serve. By these, we are keeping our armor on & maintaining it.
