Who is Barabbas?

Have you ever read a story in the Bible that gave you a righteous anger because of the way mankind treated Jesus Christ?

I believe there are plenty of those stories!

Not too long ago, I was reading the Bible where the crowd was asked who should they set free, Jesus or Barabbas. (Matthew 27:11-26). I got angry because the crowd was yelling for Barabbas to be set free, a notorious criminal/prisoner, when Jesus was innocent!

But here’s the deal, ALL of mankind is fallen and if any of us were alive during that same time, we probably would have done the exact same thing, if not worse things!

All this reading and pondering brought me to the question, who is Barabbas?

Well, as you read the Bible more and more, it becomes more and more clear that everything points to Jesus Christ as Messiah and Him having to go to the Cross on our behalf to save fallen mankind! All the stories in the Bible are a picture of this!

So who is Barabbas?

I am Barabbas. You are Barabbas. We are Barabbas. Mankind is Barabbas. We are the criminals and prisoners that Jesus Christ went to the Cross for so that we could be set free! He took our place!

Praise mighty God for ALL He has done for us!
